Minor (mutant) Allele Amplification Bias opens up a new area of High Resolution Melting. This method offers the ability to promote the amplification of a desired strand of DNA in the presence of a mixed population. The method has been shown to clearly demonstrate the existence of a mutated strain of DNA (for example in a tumour or viral or parasite sample) in a mixed population of DNA. The mutated strain may be at a level of below 1% of the total DNA. The MAAB technique over amplifies the DNA of interest so that researchers and or clinicians can clearly see the mutation while still below the detection limits of sequencing and other systems.
